![]() Makes me wonder about why MS does NOT gives us a fresh install versus attempting to rebuild from Winsxs directory.Īn error has occurred. This is obviously, a fairly serious issue and WMP is one the favorite modules used by so many. Yes this is a stable system with SFC /scannow showing 100% system file integrity and chkdsk /f /r has also been done. Well on reboot there is NO WMP either the 32 or 64 bit as they are both GONE. Not all of the features were successfully changed. This is what pops up - An error has occurred. ![]() Now all I get is the error during all attempts to reinstall (by clicking the appropriate media features boxes - all three) and then restart via reboot Part of the MS web advisory to fix WMP 12 (given that NONE of the MS fix-its worked) was eventually to go to install - uninstall Windows options and to un-check MEDIA FEATURES under the windows features to first do an uninstall, then to reboot, and thenįinally - to go back and check MEDIA FEATURES to attempt a NEW re-install WMP 12. By the way I use a new i7 computer and the 64 bit Windows Pro. So I began troubleshooting like any person would. I have Windows 7 Pro and was having WMP 12 hang on start up. Same problem as advised here before from what I see.
